KODE™ Biosurface Engineering Technology allows the surface characteristics of living cells, virions or organisms to be modified without loss of vitality.

The platform allows the user to non-toxically attach carbohydrates, peptides, proteins, and other structures to the surface of living cells - introducing new functionality, or adhering living cells to solid surfaces.

KODE™ technology has been used in vitro to modify embryos, spermatozoa, zebra fish, epithelial/endometrial cells, red blood cells and virions. Modified cells have been injected into experimental animals with no adverse effects.

Products utilizing KODE™ technology are already in the marketplace (as part of blood typing kits) and being used in medical laboratories throughout the world. Other applications of the technology in diagnostics and therapeutics are under development.
