High value manufacturing and services

We produce modern, high-precision, low-volume manufactured products and services that integrate robotics, software, electronics, sensors and advanced materials such as high performance plastics, composites and light or special purpose metals.

Manufacturing picture

New Zealand has a high tertiary education participation rate (30 percent). Levels of education and training, including formal on-the-job training, within the current working-age population, is high by OECD standards. (NZ MSD/OECD, 2009).

University trained engineers and skilled industrial workers in New Zealand cost employers around 65 percent less than their equivalents in Northern Europe and the United States, and 40 percent less than Australia. New Zealanders also work longer hours (UBS, 2009).

New Zealand's government backs high value manufacturers and service providers through its internationally respected industrial research laboratory and co-funding for strategic and applied research. These benefits, along with the country's lightly regulated economy, stable politico-legal system and free trade agreements with China, Australia and ASEAN markets, offer compelling value for investors.
